Important information


1. The Service

AGL's Solar Status service is available to residential AGL customers who have turned on their service within their My Account or AGL app.

The service is designed to alert you if we detect a likely problem with your solar system or to let you know if your solar system is producing solar energy. This assessment may take into account:

  • Recent and historical data from your smart meter about your electricity consumption
  • Other information, such as:
    • An estimate of the amount of energy generated by your solar system
    • Local weather forecasts
    • Monitored performance of other solar systems in your area
    • An estimate of your household energy consumption

AGL's Solar Status service is supplied to you at no cost. Monitoring your solar system's health may help you to know when your system appears to be underperforming compared with our expectations. The service is not a replacement for regular maintenance.

AGL may modify the functionality of the service from time to time and may withdraw the service from some or all customers at any time without prior notice. AGL may also vary the terms on which the service is provided.

2. Liability

You acknowledge that the Solar Status service assessment takes into account a range of factors, including estimates, which may not reflect your circumstances. Many variables, including higher than estimated household usage and shading, are likely to affect the assessment. To the extent permitted by law:

  • AGL takes no responsibility for any act or omission by, or on behalf of you, in connection with the Solar Status service.
  • In particular, AGL is not liable for any costs incurred by you to investigate or improve the performance of your solar system whether or not in reliance on the service.
  • You must indemnify AGL against injury, loss or damage suffered by a third party in connection with your use of the Solar Status service and claimed against us, except to the extent that such injury, loss or damage was caused by a negligent act or wilful default of AGL.

3. When your Solar Status is activated

The service will be activated, in most cases, within 24 hours after you turn it on.

4. Use of information

AGL uses your metering data for the purposes of providing the Solar Status service to you and to provide and improve our services. We will collect and use your personal information in accordance with AGL's Privacy Policy.
